These delicious bars can form part of your very low calorie complete food replacement or VLCD diet.
- We at are very careful about the use of the term, VLCD and the concept of complete meal replacement dieting.
- VLCD stands for Very Low Calorie Diet and is defined as a food product that delivers less than 800 Calories (technically expressed as ‘kcal’) per day. Mixing certain products in the Be-YU range can result in a nutritionally complete calorie intake as low as 450 kcal per day. This must NOT be undertaken without professional advice and supervision (see below).
- All complete meal replacements, be they Soups, Shakes, Hot Drinks or Meal Bars, have been scientifically formulated to be nutritionally complete foods containing at least the minimum recommended daily requirements for vitamins, minerals, trace elements, fatty acids and protein as defined by the EU
- Always seek and follow professional weight management advice before using this product. Professionally uncontrolled, unsupervised and/or unmonitored weight loss can threaten your life.
- With your l bars (as with all complete food replacement products) the intensity of flavour and completeness of the nutrition is achieved with minimal volume (and weight). This means that you will not be naturally consuming an adequate amount of fluid unless you significantly increase your intake of liquid.
- You must drink a minimum of 300ml of water (or other recommended liquids such as tea, coffee (without milk) or non-citrus herbal or fruit infusions) with each bar as part of your 2.5 (preferably 4) litres of fluid over each 24 hour period.

VLCD & OPTIMAL
DIETING ‘RULES’

1. Have 3-4 servings per day to achieve 400-650 cals and a
Be-YU Optimal One-a-Day Multi-Vitamin, preferably taking
the first serving of Be-YU food within 2 hours if waking.

2. Drink 3-4 litres of water, tap, bottled or sparkling but not flavoured,
steadily throughout the day. Teas and coffees are
included in the water allowance, but milk is restricted to a
max of 250ml skimmed per day. Teas can be black, white or
green leaf but not from fruit or flower.
3. Do not add lemon to water but artificial sweetener is allowed
in teas or coffees.

4. Do not use sugar free gum or mints as a breath freshener,
use mouthwash or the sheets like Listerine Actives. Increase
your water intake to help but no more than 4litres per day.

5. Initial side effects can include headache, nausea, tiredness
and diarrhoea, but these are short lived and normally subside
by day 4. Take paracetamol to relieve.

6. Long term side effects tend to be constipation and this
should not be ignored. Use Be-YU Fibre as a daily supplement
to help prevent it and senna or bisacodyl occasionally
to treat.

7. If you chose to have additional food, then only eat once per
day from the additional food list to stay in ketosis and maintain
the fat burning process.
