What this medicine is used for: paracetamol can be used for the treatment of mild to moderate pain and feverishness associated with teething, toothache, headache, colds, flu and post-immunisation lever.
What is this medicine? Infant paracetamol suspension 120 mg/5 ml is a pink cherry flavoured sugar free oral suspension.

Please read this carton carefully: before you start to give this medicine to a child. If you do not understand it or you want to know more, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Keep the carton, you may want to read it again. Paracetamol should only be used when clearly necessary prolonged use except under medical supervision may be harmful. Consult your doctor if there is no improvement. Before giving your child this medicine: it your child is allergic to any of the above ingredients you should tell the doctor or pharmacist. If your child is hypersensitive to paracetamol do not give them this medicine. If your child setlers from other conditions such as kidney or liver problems you should consult the doctor. If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, you should consult your doctor before taking this medicine. How should you give this medicine? Babies under 3 months: a 2.5 ml spoonful is suitable for babies who develop fever following vaccination al two months. 3 months -1 year: half to one 5 ml spoonful. 1 year - 6 years: one to two 5 ml spoonfuls. 6 years -12 years: two to four 5 ml spoonfuls. Shake well before use. Repeat dose every 4 - 6 hours as required, up to a maximum of 4 doses in 24 hours. Use measuring device provided. Do not exceed the stated dose. Is your child taking any other medicines? If your child is taking prescription medicines or medicines that can be bought over the counter, please check the ingredients and consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine. These include, metoclopramide and domperidone - used to treat nausea and vomiting. Cholestyramine - used to treat high cholesterol, anti-coagulants - drugs to reduce the clotting ability of blood e.g. Warfarin, barbiturates - drugs with a hypnotic and sedative effect, which are used to treat e.g. Sleeplessness, tricyclic antidepressants - drugs used to treat depression anti-convulsants - drugs used to treat epilepsy oral steroid contraceptives - drugs used to prevent pregnancy. If taking other medicines that contain paracetamol. Do not use both products together as you may exceed the recommended dally dosage of paracetamol. Do not consume alcohol while taking this medicine.
It also contains the following inactive ingredients: xanthan gum USNF, magnesium aluminium silicate USNF, glycerol BP, hydrogenated glucose syrup, sodium benzoate BP, citric acid monohydrate BP, saccharin sodium BP, 1.85% v/v ethanol 96% BP, polysorbate 80 BP, sorbitan monooleate BP, cherry flavour, amaranth (E123) and purified water. This medicine is presented in bottles of 70 ml, 100 ml, 150 ml, 200 ml, 500 ml, 1 litre and 2 litre.

Do not give with any other paracetamol-containing products. Immediate medical advice should be sought in the event of an overdose, even if the child seems well because of the risk of delayed, serious liver damage. What about side effects? Side effects are rare but if any occur stop using the medicine and contact your doctor if your child has persistent or troublesome symptoms. Some people may get allergic reactions, such as skin rash and very rarely there have been reports of blood disorders. Stop using this medicine if any unusual health problems occur. How should this medicine be stored? Do not use this medicine after the expiry date shown on the label. Do not store above 25°c. Protect from light. Keep all medicines out of reach of children. Contains paracetamol. Warning: each 5 ml dose contains 0.075g of 96% ethanol. Harmful for those suffering from liver disease, alcoholism, epilepsy, brain injury or disease, as well as for pregnant women and children. May modify or increase the effect of other medicines. Sodium benzoate is a mild irritant to the skin, eyes and mucous membrane. It may increase the risk of jaundice in newborn babies. Hydrogenated glucose syrup may cause diarrhoea. Amaranth can cause allergic-type reactions including asthma. Allergy is more common in those people who are sensitive to aspirin. Glycerol is harmful in high doses. Can cause headaches, stomach upset and diarrhoea.
