What is SMA white? SMA white is ti nutritionally complete 'Casein' (Curd) based infant milk. It is specially made with a balance of milk proteins for hungrier bottle fed babies and may help delay weaning until the recommended time. You should always seek the advice of a doctor midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian or pharmacist on the need for and proper method of use of infant milks and on all matters of infant feeding. Good dental hygiene is as important for babies and toddlers as it is for older children and adults Prolonged or frequent contact of drinks or feeds with the teeth, e.g. from using bottles or beakers as comforters, increases the risk of tooth decay Use a cup or beaker by 6 months if possible, and in any case as soon as the first tooth appears In accordance with normal dental hygiene, your baby's teeth should be cleaned after the last feed at night Ask your Healthcare Professional or Dentist for advice. Never leave your baby alone during feeding. Preparing the feed: Failure to follow instructions may make your baby ill. 1. Wash hands well. Sterilise all utensils according to manufacturers' instructions. 2. Boil fresh water from the tap and allow to cool for 30 minutes. Measure required amount of water (Carefully - the water is hot) into the sterilised bottle - see feeding cable Do not use artificially softened water or repeatedly boiled water. 3. Using the scoop provided in this can, add the correct number of scoops of powder to the bottle according to the feeding table leveling off each scoop with the back of a clean dry knife. Do not add extra powder or water to make feeds stronger or weaker and do not press powder into scoop Using too much or too little powder could make you' baby ill. 4. Place the sterilised teat, and cap on the bottle and shake well Cool bottle under cola funning water until lukewarm Test temperature by shaking a tew drops onto the inside of your wrist. Never add any food to the milk in your baby's bottle. Do not warm feeds in a microwave oven as this may cause uneven heating and could scald your baby's mouth. Remember cows' milk should not be used as the main milk drink during the first year. When to use different infant milks: 6-24 months: Follow-on milk from 6 months to 2 years. Contains extra vitamins and minerals to complement the weaning diet. 0 -12 months: If your baby is still hungry after a feed and not yet ready for weaning you may wish to talk to your healthcare professional about using SMA white a casein (curd) based milk. At six months you may wish to consider moving to SMA progress.
